Introduction to the Susi Air Blog

Good afternoon everyone!

Susi Air has long been a great opportunity for low hour CPL pilots fresh out of flight school and even as a stepping stone for pilots with a few more hours. Flying new Cessna Grand Caravan C208B G1000's in and around Indonesia in a multi-crew, full SOP environment has meant that many Susi Air pilots have become very attractive to airlines once they leave Susi Air. As such it is a great stepping stone and a good kick starter for any young pilot's career!

I am setting up this blog due to the constant stream of emails and Facebook enquiries I get every week from young wannabees looking for a job with Susi Air. I figured that by making a blog and cramming as much information about the company, its recruitment process, life as a Susi Air pilot, terms and conditions, many guys will get the answers they are looking for all in one place.

Good luck and I hope you find what you are looking for in your flying career :-)

  1. I have heard that they are not interested in hiring Indian pilots. Is that true or just a rumor?

  2. I don't think there is a policy as such, but if I am not wrong there have been issues validating Indian licenses in the past. We have a couple of Indians working for us who hold foreign licenses (New Zealand, FAA etc.). Hope this helps!

  3. Thank you very much for the kind response. I had applied earlier with susi air last year. I met all the requirements and hold a Filipino cpl. I received an email reply that they simply cannot process my application and they gave no particular reason for it. Then later an Indonesian friend said me that susi doesn't really like to hire indians.

  4. I've my Canadian CPL and right now working on my Multi-IR, but I'm over 40. Do you think Susi Air will consider anyone at my age? Thanks for the help!

    2. I cant really tell you to be honest. Apply and find out! No matter what you will have to go through the First Officer training course which is mandatory, even for guys who have C208 PIC time.

  6. Hi, is it necessary to have 208 rating? In Cessna aircraft I have only a C172 rating, however in terms of the interview I am wondering how I find information on the 208 series. I'm looking at applying, but am doing my research first to help me along. Also, I have a New Zealand CPL (with a bunch of other ratings & stuff) do you see this being an issue? Thanks for your time.

  8. Hi, I'm a student pilot at FTE Jerez in Spain, and I would like to know if Susi Air is still recruiting low hour pilots and what are their requirements. If it is possible I would like also to know a bit about how it works when you get in (e.g.: do you need to pay a type rating?) and about the payscale. Is it true that the company is blacklisted in Europe?
